Loving Vincent

I never write about films, but I have been impressed by this one so much, I felt the urge to leave a post.

Have you seen the film Loving Vincent (click and check the imdb link)? It's a story, the world's first fully-painted feature film, about Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Story is happening 1 year after his death, when Armand tries to deliver Vincent's last letter to his beloved brother Theo. Every opening scene of the film, when new character appears, starts with van Gogh's painting.

Film is a Polish production, made by artist, writer and director Dorota Kobiela and co-director Hugh Welchman in collaboration with 125 painters.

Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30th 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands, one year after his stillborn brother and 4 years before his brother Theo. Theo and Vincent were very much attached to one another. Vincent died on July 29th 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise, France and 6 months after, Theo died as well.

Have you herd the song »Starry, starry night«? It was written by American singer and songwriter Don Mclean, a touching tribute to magnificent Vincent van Gogh. Click the link and check it out...

Gacella of Unforseen love
by Federico Garcia Lorca

No one understood the perfume
of the dark magnolia of your womb.

Nobody knew that you tormented
a hummingbird of love between your teeth.

A thousand Persian little horses fell asleep
in the plaza with moon of your forehead,
while through four nights I embraced
your waist, enemy of the snow.

Between plaster and jasmins, your glance
was a pale branch of seeds.

I sought in my heart to give you
the ivory letters that say "siempre",

"siempre", "siempre" : garden of my agony,
your body elusive always,
that blood of your veins in my mouth,
your mouth already lightless for my death.

Cute pillow cases for your little ones!

When I was a child, my mamma made me every year for my birthday a pillowcase with number of my age sewn on it. After all these years, I sti...
